SB was formed in 2002 by Bob Batt and Jerry Slusky. Bob and Jerry have been involved in the development, ownership and operation of 1,000's of apartment units over the last 20 years including The Sterling Apartment communities in Nebraska and Iowa. The mission is to build quality apartments in under-severed, high growth areas. Construction continues in Omaha, Grand Island and Ankeny, Iowa.
In 2017, SB2 Communities changed the dynamic with developments in the Arizona communities of Gilbert and San Tan Valley.
Jerry M. Slusky is a partner at Smith Slusky Law. During his 40-year career, Jerry has been recognized as one of the top real estate planning, zoning, development and financing lawyers in the region.
In December 2010, Jerry was inducted into the Midwest Real Estate News Hall of Fame, featuring 60 of the most accomplished commercial real estate professionals in the Midwest United States. For the past 30 years, Jerry has been the driving force behind the prestigious CRE Summit.
Jerry has over 20 years experience owning, managing and selling commercial properties.
Bob Batt graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s College of Business in 1976 and is an experienced business leader. Bob retired from a top executive at Berkshire Hathaway’s $2 billion dollar subsidiary, Nebraska Furniture Mart.
From 2000-2003 Bob served on the State Comprehensive Capital Facilities Planning Committee. He also served as chairman of the City of Omaha Personnel Board from 1998-2003. He is currently a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board based in Omaha.
Bob’s experience with Berkshire Hathaway brings SB2 Communities a sales and marketing expert to create successful, fully leased projects.
In 2017, Norm Brody joined the team bringing shopping center and office development experience to the team. SB2 Communities pursues excellence resulting in a new style of living that doesn’t allow for second best. By utilizing best in class technology, finishes, and amenities, their developments result in fully occupied complexes at pro forma rents.
SB2 Communities has the experience with over 2,000 multifamily units already in production with phases in construction and new projects in development.
Norm Brody has a 45-year career in commercial real estate. Before joining SB2 Communities, he worked in senior real estate positions at several national retailers and developers throughout the States.
Norm’s experience in mixed-use development is evident in the truly unique experience being created for Gilbert residents in Verde at Cooley Station.
